The strongest point of the program is its diversity. Almost each day brings a change of the place, landscape or activity. We start in Warsaw and take a tour through the north-eastern part of the country. Masuria and Suwalki Region are the Green Lung of the Poland. There are forests, meadows, wild rivers and large lakes dominating in the landscape. What is more, this is also area with strong local traditions, many cultural monuments and turbulent history.
Itinerary:
D1: Arrival in Warsaw and sightseeing. You can get to your lodgings in the centre either by taxi or by bus. Overnight in a hotel.
D2: In the morning you get to Ketrzyn by a local bus (4h). Private taxi will take You to the Hitler’s Headquarters during Waorl War II – Wolf’s Lair. After, short transfer to Mikolajki at the Sniardwy Lake – the largest polish lake at the heart of Masurian Lake District. Cruise at the lake and lunch in the restaurant at the sea coast. Afternoon transfer to the pension in Krutyń. It is a village with beautiful wooden architecture. 3 overnights in a pension in Krutyń.
D3 – 4: Two days on Krutynia River can help you get to know different parts of the river, which is known as the most beautiful in that part of Europe. The river flows through lakes, forests, bogs, fields and villages, you will have many opportunities to take a bath and picnic. First day you will end canoeing in Krutyń, and the second day you will start there. You don’t have to worry about canoes and transfers, we will take care of it.
D5: Early morning private transfer to Suwalki Landscape Park. Hiking thrugh this beautiful Park. We will marching through the “mountains” of Suwalki region. Relief of the area was formed in Ice Age. This unique landscape belongs to the most interesting and idyllic in Poland. There are plenty of hills, valleys, lakes, large areas full of erratic. Region has strong pastoral’s traditions, which represents many different cultures. Our way leads through the small villages where wooden architecture is very well preserved (houses, chapels, churches, mills…). We will also climb some hills and, of course, we will stop for a bath in one of the numerous lakes we will come across. An evening in “bania”: Russian sauna in a wooden cabin is planned. 2 nights at the farm with tasty, homemade cuisine
D6: After short transfer long cycling around Wigry Lake in the Wigry National Park. This lake belongs to the deepest and largest lakes in Poland. Landscape is hilly, at some part we cycle through paths on bogs. There is also many bays, islands and peninsulas at the coastline. Major culture atraction is the monastery located at the lake.
D7: Return to Warsaw by local bus (5h). Free afternoon to explore the city.
